Fail to download Image on Jetson NX Dev Kit

I am trying to flash the image onto the jetson nx dev kit using the L4T release package and sample root filesystem provided by NVidia and I receive this error:
ERROR: failed to get kernel version from …/Linux_for_Tegra/kernel/Image

Unsure if this is a permissions issue? I can see the image in the directory but cannot get past this stage.
