Hi David, thanks for the response.my current BSP version is indeed 35.6.2 which should be the latest compatible version with my board(?) via the compatibility matrix. It seems like the documentation site i used before missed the l4t_flash_prerequisites step. Sorry for the very late reply. I wasn’t able to get a micro-usb cable to hook up the serial console at that time. I ended up downloading the nvidia sdk-manager desktop app under an ubuntu vm with the appropriate os version. Flashing through the desktop app by usb passthrough ended up working. Thanks anyways!
