Fan control on GB10

Opening a new issue because I cannot reply to Fan control from the OS? - #2 by aniculescu.

I have a little trouble understanding the non-existance of fan control on the GB10 platform. Is that

  1. The EC firmware does it all by itself and takes no input other than the temperature.
  2. The hardware supports specifying the fan speed via the EC firmware but it is not yet implemented in the EC firmware.
  3. The EC supports specifying the fan speed but there is no [planned] support to set this from the kernel.

I would prefer not to put a 120mm fan in front of my 3 Spark cluster.
