Fan Speed Settings 980Ti

How can I change the fan-speed curve (or manually set fan speed)?

I have two 980Ti cards in a Ubuntu 14.04 box. The fans seem to be running slow (44%) with the card temp at 82C under load. Would be nice to have the fans ramp up a bit more and keep it under 80C.

I found some post suggesting nvidia-settings but I’m getting ‘error resolving target’:

nvidia-settings -a “[gpu:0]/GPUFanControlState=1”
ERROR: Error resolving target specification ‘gpu:0’ (No targets match target specification), specified in assignment ‘[gpu:0]/GPUFanControlState=1’.
