fedora 18 + cuda 5.5 install : " error: void value not ignored as it ought to be"

Hi,
I’ve tried both the .rpm and the .run method and having no success. The rpm results in boot hang so i re-installed the os and switched back to the .run metthod.
Using the .run file I get a kernel module build error : " error: void value not ignored as it ought to be".

I’m running a vanilla fedora 18 with just the necessary additions ie gcc-c++ and kernel-devel.
My hardware : asus rampage iv extreme, asus gtx 690, 32gb gskill kit. Nouveau drivers disabled ok.

I’m amazed at how difficult it is to install the latest cuda. It’s always been difficult but i’ve somehow muddled my way through - not this time.

are you using 64-bit or 32-bit FC18 ?

64 bit

Install the latest NVIDIA drivers separately by whatever means your Linux distribution provides and THEN install the CUDA Toolkit without installing the (older) drivers it ships with.

Here’s a tutorial on doing that on Fedora 18:

thank you that appears to have succeeded…
