Flashing Orin NX module without a heatsink

Dear community,

I want to flash Image Orin NX module using the devkit and I wonder if it is safe to do it without a heatsink.
Since it is just a flashing process it should not develop that much heat.

What are your experiences and suggestions?
Is there any white paper with such topic discussed?

Best,
Dan

Hi danko.miocinovic,

Are you using the devkit or custom board for Orin NX?
What’s the Jetpack version in use?

Sorry that I didn’t receive the topic with similar requirement, but we would recommend staying with heatsink / fan when flashing.

I am using the devkit. Want to measure SOC temperature with the thermal camera during the flashing process and see the values. My idea is to build the fixture for flashing several modules in parallel.

Do you know for some available solutions which can parallelize the flashing process of more Orin NX modules simultaneously?

What’s your Jetpack version in use?

Please refer to Workflow 7: Initrd Massflash in <Linux_for_Tegra>/tools/kernel_flash/README_initrd_flash.txt for this use case.

Jetpack 6.1 and Jetson Linux 36.4

Okay, please let us know if you still have flash issue with that instruction.
