FLEXnet Licensing error:-15,570. System Error: 101

Experiencing the following issue during a compile and there have been no associated changes in the system:

pgf90-linux86-64: LICENSE MANAGER PROBLEM: Failed to checkout license
pgf90-linux86-64: LICENSE MANAGER PROBLEM: Cannot connect to license server system.

The license server manager (lmgrd) has not been started yet,
the wrong port@host or license file is being used, or the
port or hostname in the license file has been changed.

Feature: pgf90-linux86-64
Server name: mysite.com
License path: /local/pgi/pgi715/license.dat:
FLEXnet Licensing error:-15,570. System Error: 101 “Network is unreachable”
For further information, refer to the FLEXnet Licensing End User Guide,
available at “www.macrovision.com”.

lmutil lmstat reveals:

License server status:

xxxxxx: license server UP (MASTER) v11.4

Vendor daemon status xxxxx

INTEL: UP v9.2
idl_lmgrd: UP v11.4
pgroupd: UP v11.4

lmstat -a reveals:

Users of pgf90-linux86-64: (Total of 2 licenses issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)

\

  1. Is there anything else I should be checking?
  2. Do the symptoms suggest a lmgrd/pgroupd restart is needed?

    Thanks

David

We are again seeing the problem but “lmstat -a” reveals:

Users of pgf90-linux86-64: (Total of 2 licenses issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)

In fact, lmstat is reporting ’ 0 licenses in use’ for each package it is monitoring, which seems unlikely. Can anyone tell me if there is any negative impact in restarting the license manager (e.g. users are not kicked off and associated jobs are not terminated).

Any provided information is greatly appreciated.

David

I am sorry you are having problems. If you have multiple flexlm licenses, and
some work and some don’t, make sure that all the licenses have identical
SERVER lines.

  1. hostname
  2. hostid
    3.PORT used (27000)

You can edit the hostname and port by hand, but if the hostid
is different, you need to regen the license.

Note: only one PGI license per server will work properly.
When flexlm finds the keys that match, it stops looking.
Multiple licenses on flexlm must all be different.

If you want us suggest what the license should look like,
send the

  1. Intel license SERVER and DAEMON lines,

  2. the PGI license,
    and the output dialogs of

  3. /sbin/ifconfig

  4. cat /etc/hosts

I have emailed a temp license that should keep you going.
Store as $PGI/license.dat.

regards,
dave

David –

There should be no problem with restarting the daemons. In a plain old wired Ethernet LAN, a restart really should be a rare event. The internal license daemons here at PGI will often run for 6-9-12 months without requiring any attention. But the daemons should also run just fine if they are being restarted as needed too.

I’ll look into your other errors. They are a little puzzling to me why you should be seeing that behavior.

John

Thanks for the response. Dave Bore contacted me directly and I have emailed the requested installation details to him. Just trying to ensure multiple people are not working on the same problem.
