Geforce 920M GPU is not working although it is installed and seems to be read by the system

Hello everybody,

I am trying to use the 920M geforce GPU on my dell Inspiration 15, 5000 series.
I am working on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS, I also have windows 10 installed on my device.

I installed the Nvidia-driver-390 as this is the latest driver which supports the 920M GPU.

I will write below the commands I used to check if the GPU is working or not.

sudo prime-select nvidia
Info: the nvidia profile is already set

prime-select query

sudo lshw -C display

I have attached the nvidia0bug-report and a screen shot showing that the 920M driver is installed and read in the additional devices however, in the system itself the CPU is the one running for graphics.

Also it is important to mention that I can’t lunch the NVIDIA X Server Settings, and it seems that a lot of people has reported the same issue on ubuntu software.

Please note that I am not professional in ubuntu and I would really appreciate to describe the solution in details including the commands if any.

Many thanks,

You have secure boot enabled so the driver doesn’t load since it isn’t signed. Please disable secure boot in bios.
