gtx 980i and k40: installation question

hi developers,

this will seem like a pretty basic question, but – i’m building a machine and am planning to put ia GTX 980i in for graphics, and a K40 for GPU computing, both in PCIe x16 slots. am i right in thinking that i do not connect the two cards with the cable that you’d use if you had two graphics cards?

thanks in advance.

The SLI cable should not be necessary. I don’t believe the K40 supports the attachment of an SLI cable, which is primarily intended for graphics usage.
