Have somebody experience with the following LAN configuration singleport <--> dualport / dualport <--> singleport

Hello,

I have 2 Server with Mellanox -3 Singleport cards and 2 Moduls for an LWL ( LC LC ) connection.

My OS’s are MS SRV 2012 and MS SRV 2016. I have a fixed IP configuration and all works fine.

Now I’m thinking about buying a dual port networkcard and put this in the middle of the direct network connection.

I would like to know now. If the PC in the middle plays a big role in the data throughput or if that handles the network card by self. Alternative how far the data rate is affected by this construction.

Examble what i have

( Single Port ) <---------> ( Single Port )

( MS SRV 2016) <—> ( MS SRV 2012 )

( 192.168.0.10) <----> ( 192.168.0.20 )

Examble what i want to build

( Single Port ) <-------> ( Dual Port 1 / Dual Port 2 ) <--------> ( Single Port )

( MS SRV 2016) <--------------> ( Windows 10 ) <--------------> ( MS SRV 2012 )

( 192.168.0.10) <---------------> (192.168.0.15) <--------------> ( 192.168.0.20 )

Have somebody experience with it or some knowledge about that ?

many thanks for help

Uwe

If you use Etherent

In linux ,you can add a bridge in the middle server , then add two ports .

In windows, I think you should use special software

If you use IB , the feature is not support
