When you add the hda loader from the extensions and you click on the Autoload checker, the next time you open OV Composer, your viewer will be totally black no matter what illumnination you load.
I am not sure I am understand fully. You are experiencing this issue just when trying to load this Houdini Engine? What about just normal kit? So leave this extension off, then start kit and is there a problem?
It sounds like this extension is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, which is to over our normal RTX Renderer settings, and autoload Houdini instead. And in that case, for some reason the screen appears black.
To be honest, I did not know we even had this renderer. What exactly are you trying to use it for? You cannot use RTX?

To download and build the latest Composer and other templates go to:
Or better still just follow these instructions: (Windows)
1. Download "git" from https://git-scm.com/downloads
2. Download "git Large File Storage from https://git-lfs.com/
3. Start a windows command console by using running "cmd" from the Windows Start menu
4. Navigate to where you want to install the kit app template folder
5. Copy and run "git clone https://github.com/NVIDIA-Omniverse/kit-app-template.git"
6. run "cd kit-app-template"
7. run "repo.bat template new"
8. run "repo.bat build"
9. run "repo.bat launch"
I have installed Omniverse Composer via git, version 106.5, but unfortunately when I search for the hda loader in extensions it doesn’t appear, as you can see in the uploaded image.
Well unfortunately this is why I have not heard of it. It may be super old and has been discontinued. We don’t really have much need of it. You can export your project as usd now.
Yes, but I would loose the poder of interactively tweak parameters and bake what I what I want.
It would be the same approach of having a .sbsar seeing in the scene and bake what fits you.
Well, if you keep both applications, open in a split screen, it only takes the time to re-save the USD. Then composer will automatically self update, so it’s not a huge deal.
