Hi, I just got brand new laptop Hyperbook NV5 with GeForce 3050Ti and after few hours of trying to get my second monitor to work I decided to ask you.
I have a fresh installation of Linux Mint 21
Monitor is an old DELL 23" 1920x1080 connected by HDMI → DVI-D cable
SecureBoot seems to be disabled
Here’s my nvidia-bug-report.sh output
nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (342.8 KB)
All external display connectors are driven by the intel igpu but no monitors are detected:
[ 30.849] (II) modeset(0): Output eDP-1 connected
[ 30.849] (II) modeset(0): Output DP-1 disconnected
[ 30.849] (II) modeset(0): Output HDMI-1 disconnected
[ 30.849] (II) modeset(0): Output DP-2 disconnected
[ 30.849] (II) modeset(0): Output DP-3 disconnected
[ 30.849] (II) modeset(0): Output DP-4 disconnected
[ 30.849] (II) modeset(0): Output HDMI-2 disconnected
Please check with another cable.
Thanks for your response,
I tried with TV and it doesn’t work, then I’ve installed windows 11 and on windows it works with this cable. I’ve also tried with HDMI-> USB-C adapter but with no luck.
Ok, please check in Windows whether the external monitor is driven by the intel or the nvidia gpu.
Since there are some errors in the logs regarding the i915 intel driver, please use the liquorix ppa to upgrade your kernel to latest. Also, please check for a bios update.
It seems that it is driven by the intel.
As far as I know I have the latest kernel and bios.
You’re running the stock kernel 5.15 of 22.04. The liqourix ppa will get you 5.18 and the updated intel driver.
Ok, now I have
Operating System: Linux Mint
Kernel: Linux 5.18.0-16.1-liquorix-amd64
Still nothing changed
nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (107.4 KB)
Still the same errors

You should report this to the intel i915 issue tracker though I fear this rather points to another broken bios with an incorrect VBT from insyde.
Hey, I wanted to thank you for your time, and I wanted to tell you (and others - maybe someone will need this) that HDMI → mini DP works in my case.
It turns out that HDMI and DP are sharing some ports (if I understand correctly) and current driver cannot handle this properly.
