Headless Nano display question

I set up my Nano using Vino and RealVNC viewer on my laptop. Log on first with SSH (PuTTY) so that Vino server is running, then connect with the VNC viewer. Works OK, but only displays part of the Nano desktop.
I have a second HDMI monitor on my laptop, and if I simply plug it in to the Nano HDMI port for a few seconds, suddenly my VNC display is perfect- shows the entire desktop and works well.
What is happening to Nano settings when I plug n the HDMI monitor? Can I set the Nano up to open the VNC viewer as if the HDMI monitor had been plugged in?

Hi,

Sorry that I don’t get your description. Do you mean VNC shows nothing?

Works OK, but only displays part of the Nano desktop.

It seems to be related to the VNC ability to scale.

Here is is before plugging in

The view port and desktop are different sizes. Or else scaled. Not sure how to correct that.
