Help me to Install YOLO from Beginning

Hello members, I need your help.

I just got the Jetson AGX Orin Developer Kit for my company’s project, which is in the security and safety field.

I need to install YOLO and PeopleNet on this AGX Orin, but after a day of trying with ChatGPT, I haven’t gotten the results I need. The system doesn’t work, only DeepStream is works.

I want to start over again. Here’s my device and software information.

Please help me install to YOLO, specifically, and what version of YOLO is appropriate for my device.

Thanks.

To install YOLO on your Jetson AGX Orin Developer Kit, I recommend upgrading to JetPack 6, as the provided documentation suggests that PyTorch packages are not supported for JetPack 5 anymore.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to install PyTorch and YOLO on your Jetson AGX Orin:

  1. Upgrade to JetPack 6: Follow the instructions in the NVIDIA SDK Manager Documentation to upgrade your Jetson AGX Orin to JetPack 6.
  2. Install PyTorch: Once you’ve upgraded to JetPack 6, you can install PyTorch using the prebuilt wheel from the download center. Refer to the jp6/cu126 index for more information.
  3. Install YOLO: After installing PyTorch, you can install YOLO using the instructions provided in the One-Click Run Ultralytics YOLO on Jetson Orin repository.

As for the version of YOLO, I recommend using the latest version available, which is YOLOv8. However, please note that the provided documentation does not specifically mention YOLOv8, so you may need to refer to other resources for installation instructions.

Additionally, you may want to refer to the Jetson AGX Orin Developer Kit User Guide for more information on setting up your developer kit and installing software.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions or need more assistance.

— We support team will also look into your issue to have further suggestions soon. please stay tuned. —

So it’s meant I need to re-flash the system to upgrade it. I need to upgrade my Ubuntu also if that’s like that.

Any useful information link to do that without getting another headache?

Hi,

It’s recommended to update to the latest software to get more new features.

But the Ultralytics team does maintain the installation guide for each JetPack release.
Please find below the document for the details with JetPack 5:

Thanks.

For native installation, you can check the section for Jetpack 5.1.2.

But you can run

pip install ultralytics

instead of

pip install ultralytics[export]

that’s shown there for more stable installation.
