# How can I parse images from raw images?

How can I parse images from raw images? The raw image was obtained from camera\_sample\_gmsl\_raw.  
I want to split the images contained in a raw image into multiple picture files, in the format of  
a png file. What is the video format of raw image?

Hi daekeun.kim

There are many RAW video formats available(ex:Bayer Raw, Uncompressed formats like UYVY,RGB888,RAW16,etc.,). We cannot view these formats with normal image viewer and we need third party RAW image viewers like vooya,7YUV etc.

Moreover, to view a raw image, we need to know the RAW image format and resolution.If you are getting raw image from a camera,then you can find RAW image format and resolution using v4l2-ctl command mentioned below.

v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --list-formats-ext

Using the result of above command you can find RAW image format and Resolution of your camera.Use these details to view and convert the RAW image file into a png file with the above mentioned applications.
