Flash with the latest release compatible with a TX2. L4T is what gets flashed, and the latest R32.x should work. FYI, JetPack/SDK Manager is the flash software, and this is locked to a particular L4T release; the latest JetPack 4.x would flash the latest L4T R32.x. See either of these:

Note: You can use either an Ubuntu 16.04 host PC, or Ubuntu 18.04 (I suggest 18.04). Command line flash gives you more choices, but they are all Linux as well.
