I want to buy the supercomputer but the founders edition is out of stock in my country and provides 2 years of warranty whereas MSI and ASUS provides 3 years of it. Asus is not available yet. But what matters to me the most is software updates which afaik is instantaneous in case of the founders edition. So my question is how reliable is MSI for software updates? I bought their gtx 750 ti back in 2014 but that had geforce drivers which were provided by nvidia itself. I was fairly content with the hardware nonetheless.

I have 2 of them. Last month, all of the spark variant has PD firmware bug that capped the GPU clock frequency to 600 Mhz. This causes severe performance degradation. You can still see those problem in this forum from time to time. NVIDIA release the fix and one of my unit mistakenly (via DGX dashboard) took the firmware update capsule, which causes the EC firmware to corrupted.
I posted on MSI forum about this at first week of May, their rep recognize the problem and said to wait, almost 3 weeks later, the correct firmware hit LVFS, and all is fine again.
So, they are a bit behind NVIDIA in term of firmware update, but I found it to be satisfactory. Where I lives, the MSI with 4TB Gen5 SSD is price at $4,000, whereas the NVIDIA Founder edition is $5,800.
Also, stay away from Asus variant, they overheated and self shutdown. The Asus GX10 has air inlet at the bottom which is not enough it seems.
I own 3 of then - really happy with then. Haven’t experienced any issues. Thermals seem to be good on them as well, likely due to the slightly larger form factor. As the poster above me mentioned, firmware releases are slightly delayed.
My second one arrived today. I liked the first one enough to get a second. Grappling with cluster mode now, which is altogether another learning curve.
it’s marked up here. on emi i can buy it at 71600bdt which is roughly $5637 here. please don’t raise the price further 😂🫡 i’m getting back into the tech scene and i’m really trying to not make a mistake here. i left gaming back in 2014 because my internet was cut off by my parents as computers made you ignore studies and then i quit studying and got back into it and not being able to secure anything in academia so now trying to get back in the computers lol.
Like others have said, firmware updates lag a bit, but not by too much. I have a DGX Spark and the Edgexpert and generally use the MSI as my primary. For one, even though the SSD on the MSI is gen 4 and the Spark is gen 5, I actually get better disk perf out of the gen 4 drive in the MSI 🤷♂️
Bit late to the party here, are you running the 3 as a cluster and if so do you find it slow down with tensor not running in parallel mode
Why does my EdgeXpert shows only 1 year of warranty??
I ended up upgrading to 4, pretty much for that reason. I was originally running a cluster of 2 and then faster smaller models on the third, but I was finding I wasn’t really utilising the smaller models much. 4 feels pretty flexible and fast.

Not sure your source on claims like this, but you shouldn’t just throw and spread rumors without having concrete info around problems. I have 2 GX10s and they have been my MOST reliable GB10 systems so far. I also have the DGX Spark (from PNY) and the Dell model, and they have all been mostly reliable.
Temps on the GX10s from Asus have been completely fine even when placed in warmer denser server rack environments. I have these systems running fairly actively as well.
I have actually read myself that the MSI EdgeXpert is problematic with its plastic housings. Lets keep the rumors and all that muted, unless you have reliable first hand information to share. 3rd party rumors are not helpful
No. MSI EdgeXpert has a very fine metal chasis. Although it looks a bit like plastic, it is actually metal.
That is nice to know. I swear I read from some publication when reviewers were getting these sent to them that the MSI unit was Plastic. Of course I have no hands on experience with one, and have not seen one in person.
From what I have ultimately gathered is that each GB10 unit regardless of the make is of decent quality. shared issues aside, It really comes down to what can you get your hands on and the best prices.
