How to animate the Section Tool?

I have section tool here in use. Its great in quality!

But I could not animate the position of the section tool in time.

I need this feature, how can I make it happen?

Hi Pekka,
Unfortunately, the Section tool does not support animation, because it is not part of a standard USD prim. It is just a temporary visual tool we offer.

The Section Tool is implemented as a convenience utility that drives a local clipping plane, but its controls (sliders, buttons) are not exposed as standard USD properties on a prim, so you cannot keyframe them in the normal animation timeline. To “animate” a cross section you would typically:omniverse.nvidia+1​

  • Create your own clipping plane prim or shader parameter and animate that property with the Timeline/Curve Editor.
  • Or script the Section Tool’s underlying transform via a custom extension that updates it over time.

So, native keyframe animation of the stock Section Tool panel is not currently supported; you need a custom animated prim or scripted workaround.developer.nvidia+2​
