I have a TX1 which isn’t a jetson developer board so it doesn’t have power, reset, or recovery buttons. Is there a way to put it in force recovery mode without pressing these buttons?

No, it’s a TX1-SOM. The solution is to hold the reset button while powering on.
It turns out there is a reset button, it just isn’t marked as such on the board or in the documentation.
