I can not install NVIDIA driver in my laptop

Hello, I try to use RTX 3060 in laptop after installing driver using ‘Software & Update’ application in Ubuntu 20.04.

I can check my GPU model.

However, ‘nvidia-smi’ command gives ‘NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn’t communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.’ message.

I reinstalled Ubuntu, NVIDIA driver several times. Nevertheless, issue is still existed.

There are several things I check about that problem.

1. Additional Drivers session shows ‘Unknown’ for GPU name

2. Can not change from internal graphic card to external

3. Nvidia x server settings only shows prime profiles
nvidia_driver_error_2

Attached is result of running ‘nvidia-bug-report.sh’
nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (232.2 KB)

I am looking forward to some advice.

Thank you

Thank you very much.

I added ‘pci=realloc’ to /etc/default/grub file. Finally, ‘nvidia-smi’ command is working.

You are awesome :-)
