Suddenly we could not log in to the administrator account of NucleusDB.
I resolved the issue by deleting the local-accounts-db and restarting the service, but I would like to understand why this happened.

I am not sure. Nucleus for workstation, Nucleus Local and Navigator are both now Legacy and discontinued. So is Launcher. So really you would be best uninstalling all of those. Launcher, Nucleus and Navigator. Only Nucleus Enterprise (NEW VERSION) is now supported.
If you are Enterprise Level, please submit a ticket through your enterprise portal.
