I have been passed here to deal with issues where I cannot save settings

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/554518/can-not-save-settings/

So, after the pain of vetting, no response? Is there any point in continuing with hitting the send bug reports button if there is no interest in the problem? Are NVDIA just not support LINUX users?

You need to provide driver version, desktop environment, hardware used…
Also run nvidia-bug-report.sh and attach the logs here.

Then perhaps someone can help you.

So, outside social engineering responses, are there any solutions?

Two things I spot immediately, why are you running such an old kernel?
I also see this:
[ 31.380851] [drm:nv_drm_master_set [nvidia_drm]] ERROR [nvidia-drm] [GPU ID 0x00000c00] Failed to grab modeset ownership

What does this return?

cat /sys/module/nvidia_drm/parameters/modeset

the OP is apparently using Ubuntu 22.04 (which is reasonable, given how unstable 24.04 is), so that’s the kernel version there, I guess.

I had a somewhat similar error reported by Xorg on 565. Upgrading to 570 solved it for me.

Installed 570, now I am getting an error when running nvidia-smi:

Failed to initialize NVML: Driver/library version mismatch

So now trawling the net to find a fix for that.

So, fixed the driver mismatch with a reboot.

Unfortunately, the problem I am reporting re daily error reports from nvidia-settings is still happening so updating drivers has not fixed it.

Still hitting the send report button daily.

Still no fixes coming though from nvidia so who is working with Ubuntu to pick up what must be a flood of error reports?
