Image tearing issue with NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti 11G

Playing video in the Ubuntu 16.04 operating system environment with NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti 11G graphics card shows a significant image tear effect. What might the problem be? Our assessment is: the graphics card’s Linux driver could be the issue.

Configuration information:

CPU: I7-8700
Motherboard: Asus Z370
Memory: Kingston 16G
Drive: 256G SSD

You installed the driver without opengl

nvidia-installer command line:
    ./nvidia-installer
    -no-opengl-files
    -no-opengl-files

Without glx, there’s no vsync so anything will tear.
Furthermore, you should use the --dkms option for the driver to survive kernel updates.
