Is a USB Load Switch Necessary?

I am designing a custom carrier board that will almost always have a USB device plugged into it. In my case, is a USB load switch necessary? Since everyone seems to use them, there must be a purpose for them, but it would be nice to just connect the USB port’s power directly to the system’s 5V supply rail.

Also, If I can get away with not needing a USB load switch, how should I connect the USB_VBUS_ENx and VDD_VBUS_DET pins?

Hi, suggest to follow design guide to keep the load switch, otherwise you might need to change the driver by yourself.
