Topic Description

Isaac Sim startup hang at “icons/lights/distant_light.png”; local Nucleus installed/running but UI stalls at 0% (sometimes crashes)

Detailed Description

On my new Windows 11 PC, Isaac Sim consistently stalls during startup: the bottom status bar remains at Loading… 0%, often with the last printed asset being .../icons/lights/distant_light.png.

What I’ve Tried

  • Launching with --reset-user --reset-data.

  • Clearing caches: removed/renamed user cache/extension folders under
    C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\ov\data\kit\Isaac-Sim Full\5.0\ (and 4.5 if present),
plus deleting the temporary portable root directory before relaunching.

    none of them works however…

Additional Context

  • Only one time, replacing distant_light.png appeared to “work once” (isaac sim launched successfully), but it doesn’t work anymore…

How long have you waited? The first run of the Isaac Sim app takes some time to warm up the shader cache. If the issue persists, please share the complete log file for further investigation.
