## Topic Description

Adding Physics material to robot manipulator finger fails saying " failed to bind to material as they are instance proxies “path to/collisions/mesh\_1/box”

### Detailed Description

I am trying to replicate tutorial 7 to simulate a pick and place robot manipulator, and while adding physics material to the gripper fingers I get the warning “” failed to bind to material as they are instance proxies “path to/collisions/mesh\_1/box” and proceeding to the next step of moving it using the physics inspector the robot arm and gripper is not recognizable and the dialog box says “Re-enable authoring”

I have followed the exact steps of the tutorial series.

### Steps to Reproduce

1. Finish Tutorial 6

2. Tutorial 7: Adding physics and configuring joint effort limits

3.

Hi @Asim_eng1, thank you for posting your issue. The problem is that the assets that are put together from Tutorial 6 have the prims as instanceable. In order to modify the prims or sub-prims properties you need to uncheck the instanceable property. Go to the properties panel for the `collision` prim and uncheck the instanceable checkbox. Then proceed with applying the material.

Hi @Asim_eng1, we have made changes to the documentation for Isaac Sim tutorial and added instructions to change the asset instanceable property as explained above. These documentation changes will show up in Isaac Sim 6.1 which will be released first week of September.
