Jetson AGX Xavier -- Net Booting not working, stalling at "Wait till auto-calibration completes..."

Hello,

I am attempting to setup PXE booting for the Jetson AGX Xavier. My plan was to use the net booting boot process in CBoot to have the Jetson grab the pxelinux.0 executable from the TFTP server as its bootfile and then PXE Boot from there. However, after modifying the boot order in cbo.dtb and flashing onto the device, the net boot process stalls at “Wait till auto-calibration completes…”, as seen below. Any idea as to what could be causing this or how I can get around this?

This is a known issue in 32.6.1. We will update once there is a fix.

@WayneWWW Thanks for the suggestion. I have made that edit to Linux_for_Tegra/bootloader/t186ref/BCT/tegra194-mb1-bct-scr-cbb-mini.cfg and re-flashed the Jetson. However, it does not seem to have resolved my issue. See the console output below for more information.

Is this board your custom carrier board?

The carrier board is the Rogue Carrier from Connect Tech.

Can we clarify that whether some early release are able to do net boot or not? Since this is not NV devkit, we are not sure if there are only one issue here or multiple issues.

For example, we didn’t know there would be “Unsupported PHY” error coming out here.
If possible, please also ask ConnetTech for the ethernet phy. Looks like they have some customization.

I reached out to Connect Tech with those questions. Here is what they had to tell me about the PHY:

"J1A on the AGX101 comes direct from the AGX Xavier module ethernet port (through a KSZ9031RNXIA Transceiver).

J1B on the AGX101 comes from the carrier’s PCIe Intel i210 MAC/PHY. "

They have yet to respond to whether or not net booting has worked using prior releases with the Rogue carrier board yet, but once they do, I will be sure to make you aware of their response.

@WayneWWW Connect Tech has also informed me that net booting has not ever worked on any prior release with their Rogue carrier board. So that further isolates the issue.
