Jetson Nano E18-D80NK Proximity Sensor Voltage divider

Hello Experts,

Help needed on interfacing E18-D80NK proximity sensor

Characteristics of the E18-D80NK:

Supply voltage: 5 VDC
Working current: 150 mA
Max. detection distance: 80 cm

Description of the wiring:

Sensor’s VCC is connected to the external power supply board 5V output
Sensor’s OUT is connected to a voltage divider and then to the Jetson Nano GPIO 7 (input mode)
Sensor’s GND is wired with one of the Jetson GND PINs and the power supply board GND

Voltage Divider:
2.2 kiloohm resistor between the Jetson GPIO pin and ground.
1.0 kiloohm resistor between the 5V-output sensor pin and the GPIO pin 7.
I have a common ground connected Jetson, Sensor and External supply board.

The voltage divider is not working for me, on access the GPIO pin 7 I get low value all time.

Thanks in Advance

Hi sidhant.abap,

Are you using the devkit or custom board for Jetson Nano?
What’s your Jetpack version in use?

Could you share the block diagram of your connection for further check?

Thank you!! for the response.

I have fixed it by using a 4 channel logic level converter. Actually the voltage divider was not giving me 3.3v output, with Logic level converter I am now providing my GPIO pin a 3.3v input.

Please let me know if 3.3v is not safe for GPIO pin to except input.

Thanks again

It’s okay for you to use 3.3V for GPIO on Jetson device.
