Jetson Nano fan always on

Hello, I’m having a bit of an issue with my fan always being on at 100%. Using a fresh install of the stock microSD image, immediately once I power the nano up with the fan connected, it starts blowing.

I’m using the 5V barrel jack and a salvaged 5V 0.3A pwm laptop fan. Connected everything up as if it was one of the popular noctua fans, but it just chugs happily away from the get-go.

This doesn’t make sense to me because surely the thermal limits have not been reached. Is there something I am missing here? Is an additional package necessary? Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks for the assistance!

Hi,

I just wonder what kind of fan are you using. What interface is connected?
Actually, jetson series has it own driver to control their own fan with different thermal condition.

However, jetson nano devkit does not have fan, so these drivers are not applicable to nano.

So the fan is an AVC Model: BATA0610R5H and I’ve connected it to J15 FAN. Ended up finding a Noctua but didn’t double check about 5V. Little push start to the 12V and it runs, but stupid me… live and learn
