Jetson Orin AGX : Lag with some desktop environments

Hello everybody,

If I install on my Jetson Orin AGX the desktop environment openbox or LXDE or fluxbox, I have a screen lag of one to two seconds (when I write with the keyboard, when I click with the mouse , and especially when I move windows).

I don’t have this issue with XFCE or Gnome.

It’s very disturbing.

Do you have an idea to solve this issue ?

Thanks.
Ludo

Hello @ludo64000

This is due the nvidia-display-driver.

Could you please share logs ?

Hi,
Please execute $ sudo nvpmodel -m 0 and sudo jetson_clocks, and try again. To check if there is improvement in maximum performance mode.

Hi @ilies.chergui and @DaneLLL,

Unfortunately the issue is still present even after running the commands nvpmodel -m 0 and sudo jetson_clocks.

The logs are attached.

installed_packages.txt (228.7 KB)
lsmod.txt (3.3 KB)
syslog (230.1 KB)
Xorg.0.log (19.4 KB)

Thanks

Anyone to help me on this ?

Hi,
You may check GPU loading in the condition. See if GPU is at full loading and triggers the issue. Please execute sudo tegrastats

@DaneLLL thanks for your reply.

Below is the result of the command “sudo tegrastats” when i move a window with openbox with the lag (i think the GPU is not fully loaded) :

Hi,
This probably needs other users to share experience. Looks like something wrong at application level.

We have nvegglessink in gstreamer and it supports X11 and Wayland. You may try Wayland and see if you observe the issue.

Unfortunately Openbox or Fluxbox are not compatible with Wayland…
