Jetson Orin Series Modules Field Bulletin - Critical QSPI Software Update

Hello,

Would it be possible to have more info on this issue and typical symptoms that could be observed ?

We are since a few month doing heavy, extensive and also very expensive tests and investigations on some weird and critical boot issues affecting a certain number of our Orin NX at production.

There are various, more or less sever up to critical symptoms observed so far appearing on the impacted modules.

Occurrences can vary between one issue in several tens or hundreds of boots up to once every few thousands of boots. Still far to high to cause production issues.

None of the modules is working in anormal temperature conditions.

Bumping up

Hello Martin,

The issue is seen when the device is operating outside the nominal temperature range, as it during that time the QSPI read failure occur. If your devices are not in anormal conditions, then it is highly unlikely that this issue impacts your parts.
However, we have deemed the issue to be critical, we highly recommend that the fix listed in the bulletin be applied to prevent this problem to show up..

You can refer the OTA instruction to apply the fix at: https://docs.nvidia.com/jetson/archives/r36.4.4/DeveloperGuide/SD/SoftwarePackagesAndTheUpdateMechanism.html#updating-jetson-linux-with-image-based-over-the-air-update

Hello Martin,

Authentication errors are what we have typically seen, e.g. often during MB2 stage since that’s when many firmware files are loaded.

Thanks Aapathak1, so this is definitively a different issue than the one we encounter on about 20% of the Orin NX modules we have (reproduced on all, custom carrier board as well as both devkits, P3509 and P3768).
