Jetson orin nano DRAM test

Jetson Orin Nano :Bootloader question - Jetson & Embedded Systems / Jetson Orin Nano - NVIDIA Developer Forums

I would like to know about the following two questions.

1.Are the following features listed in the URL supported by Jetson Orin Nano?

In Jetson orin nano, do you run tests like BIST on bootloader to detect DDR memory defects?
Uefi supports for dram memory tests and will be available in the next release.

Is this related to the following statement in the jetpack 5.1.3 release notes?

Double-Bit ECC Error Detection that is enabled for Jetson AGX Orin Industrial.

2.Does the “Memory Test options” in UEFI work on the Jetson Orin Nano?
The setting did not change the UART log and did not change the startup time.

Hi,

The feature is only supported on AGX Orin Industrial. Not supported on other Orin series. If you need the function, please consider use Orin Industrial.

Thank you for your information

I would like to know about the following two questions.

Please also answer these questions.

Double-Bit ECC Error Detection and Memory Test seem the different feature.

DRAM Memory test would support for Orin Nano.
You could run the following command to download the latest UEFI source for R35.5.0.

$ edkrepo clone nvidia-uefi-r35.5.0  NVIDIA-Platforms r35.5.0

May I know what’s your current requirement?

Thank you for your information.

I would like to know two questions.
1.

edkrepo clone nvidia-uefi-r35.5.0 NVIDIA-Platforms r35.5.0

Am I correct in my understanding that the UEFI memory test option can be set by entering the above command?

May I know what’s your current requirement?

I would like to know if the following features are implemented and the means to enable them.

Jetson Orin Nano :Bootloader question - Jetson & Embedded Systems / Jetson Orin Nano - NVIDIA Developer Forums

That command is used to download UEFI source for R35.5.0.
Please refer to Jetson Orin Nano :Bootloader question - #18 by KevinFFF for details.

Yes, it should be implemented in the latest release.

Thank you for your information

I would like to configure the “Memory Test options” added on the BIOS screen of the UEFI in JetPack 5.1.3 to perform a memory test.
Please let me know how to set it up.
If you have any documentation on the settings, please provide it to us.

Please find the Memory Test options in UEFI menu as following:
Device Manager → NVIDIA Configuration → Memory Test options

and refer to the description in the menu.

Is there any way to check the results of the memory test?
We would appreciate it if you could tell us how to check the results of the memory test.

Please share the full serial console log for further check.

JP5.1.3_UEFI Memory Test.zip (65.9 KB)

Thank you for your information.
We will provide you with logs.

The image in the zip file is a screenshot with the memory test option set.
We will attach a log of the reboot after this.

After rebooting, we checked the BIOS again and confirmed that the settings were saved.

Thanks

Could you use debug UEFI binary to enable more debug message in UEFI?

Thank you for your information

Could you tell me where I can find instructions on how to use the debug UEFI binaries?

You can refer to Build without docker to setup and build the debug UEFI binary (uefi_Jetson_DEBUG.bin).
and replace the <Linux_for_Tegra>/bootloader/uefi_jetson.bin with the debug UEFI binary.

$ edkrepo clone nvidia-uefi-r35.5.0 NVIDIA-Platforms r35.5.0

JP5.1.3_DEBUG_UEFI Memory Test.zip (132.6 KB)

Thank you for your reply.
I have enabled the UEFI debug log, but no memory checks appear to be performed.
The message “Failed to find memory test protocol” is displayed.

We would appreciate it if you could tell us how to enable the memory test.

Failed to find memory test protocol

From your log, it seems the protocol for memory test is not enabled on your board.

Could you enable it in NVIDIA.common.dsc.inc and rebuild UEFI binary?

[Defines]

!ifndef CONFIG_MEMORY_TEST

- CONFIG_MEMORY_TEST=n
+ CONFIG_MEMORY_TEST=y

!endif

JP5.1.3_DEBUG_UEFI Memory Test ConfigON.zip (59.5 KB)

Thank you for your information.

The memory test was run in UEFI with the configuration enabled.
It is executed at line 1626 and the test results at line 1935.

However, when I try the same thing in the release version, the test process does not finish.
In the debug version, the memory test finished in about 18 seconds.

I have two questions.
Could you please answer the following questions.

1.Am I correct in understanding that the default UEFI included in JetPack 5.1.3 does not allow memory tests to be run?

2.Is a memory test function under development or evaluation?
In the RELEASE version, the memory test does not work even if the configuration is enabled (CONFIG_MEMORY_TEST=y).

Yes.

I’ve verified the memory test can also work with RELEASE UEFI binary.
What do you mean about “does not work”?

Thank you for your early response!

I was wrong in my perception.
I will close it.
