Jetson orin nano no video output, error "mode not supported"

I updated to the last version my jetson orin nano with the sdkmanager as a first boot, once the process finished, I connected the jetson to a monitor with the cable (without any adapter) and the monitor is giving me the “mode not supported” error.

I enter through ssh and I ran the command xrandr and the result was

can't open display

What is the status of /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

What was the monitor connection? Is it going through a DP-HDMI adapter? or pure DP ?

thanks for answer, this are the logs of the requested file

and I am using pure dp cable

I don’t see any error from the log itself.

Did you “export DISPLAY=:0” before you run xrandr?

Also, which Jetpack version is that?

I tried again with export DISPLAY=:0 and then sudo xrandr and the answer was

Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified
Can't open display :0

I installed Jetpack 6.2

Is same monitor able to work with rel-35/jetpack5.1.5?

I didn’t tried since the first step on the setting of Orin nano is to update it

How was your method to flash this board in the first time?

hi, I connected the device to an unbuntu machine and run the sdk manager. Following the instructions of

Then could you use sdkanager to flash your board to jetpack5 and see if that monitor can work?

I could not flash on jetpack5 since the sdk manager didn’t let me (see screenshot), I formatted to the v6.0 (I was in 6.2) and the same issue

@WayneWWW any other option to fix it ? or any other test that you need for this ?

Do you have any old Ubuntu host on your side that can flash Jetpack5?

The reason that sdkm didn’t let you flash is because ubuntu version not supported.

wich version should be? I am running on 22.04, sadly I don’t have another computer to try

Your screenshot already provided the answer.

but question, what would mean if I have video with the version 5.1.5, the video should work with any jetpack version right ?

From such remote debug, I can only suggest you to cross check. If jetpack5 can have that Samsung monitor work, I can only label this kind of model and maybe test in future once we get same monitor on our side.

Thus, if you insist on using jetpack6, I could only suggest you try other monitors.

Also, the purpose of trying rel-35 is to test if the hardware has any problem or not. If none of the monitor ever light up, then it has chance to be a hardware problem.

BTW, when you run xrandr, please do not run it as root. It won’t work. I don’t know if you did that way or not.

ok, for the monitor, I took my wife monitor ( a DELL) and it giving signal, thanks for the support ( I feel so dumb about it )

Ok. So the conclusion here is Jetpack6.2 + Orin Nano DP port somehow cannot output Samsung Odyssey G70B.
