The fan starts running, I get the green eye and the big NVIDIA, and then it says attempting to boot but as soon as the green eye screen goes away, the boot quits and loses connection. I don’t have a ubuntu machine so I don’t know what else to do to fix it.
What do you mean by “loses connection”?
Is the fan still spinning and the cooler hot?
Are you able to connect via Putty?
Fan stops spinning, green “on” light stays on, and my screen goes from “attempting boot” to “no signal, entering power saving mode” even though I press the right key to start the boot. This happens even tho I tried updating the firmware, tried using a different microsd card, tried using a different keyboard, different monitor etc. what is putty and what should I do with it?
I had comparable issues.
Took me two month to sort it all out.
There are several components, which have to be in sync, when flashing. (Linux, L4T, JetPack, UEFI)
The update process is not intuitive, but you really have to understand where you are and what the next step is.
Make sure that you know your board p-number. I was for weeks under the assumption that I have a p-0005, but it turned out to be p-0003.
I had the black screen and it turned out that the GUI was switched off. I did not know the command at the time, so I do not know where it came from.
sudo init 5 was the solution.
With Putty you talk via SSH to the JON, when the screen is gone.

My JON still goes black, when I put too much strain on - and then it reboots.
I can’t find a P/N anywhere on the Jetson, I attached a picture, do you know where I can find it? Where do I install putty? How do I connect the putty to the Jetson board? Right now I connect the Jetson using the display port to a monitor, connect the usb ports to a keyboard and mouse, and connect the power. I’ve never worked with this before so I don’t understand what to do.
There is no update from you for a period, assuming this is not an issue any more.
Hence we are closing this topic. If need further support, please open a new one.
Thanks
Hi @dramaswamy,
Are you using the Orin Nano devkit?
What’s your Jetpack version in use
It seems you don’t have NVMe SSD connected on the board…
How did you flash the board? What’s your boot-device?
