Board: NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit Firmware version: 39.2.0
Issue:
My Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit does not power on automatically when AC power is applied. I understand this is supposed to be the default behavior on current firmware (confirmed by other users on the forum), but on my unit it does not happen.
Steps I’ve taken:
Powered off the board completely and disconnected the power adapter from the wall/power strip.
Waited at least 60 seconds to allow the AC/DC adapter to fully discharge before reapplying power.
Reapplied AC power to the adapter.
Result: the board does not power on by itself — I have to press the physical power button to boot it.
What I’ve already ruled out / checked:
Confirmed the power supply is the original 19V adapter that shipped with the kit
Tested with a different wall outlet / power strip
Tested waiting longer than 60 seconds (e.g. 2–5 minutes) between power cycles
Checked the green LED near the USB-C port — does it light up at all when power is applied, even without full boot?
Checked UEFI (Esc at boot) → Device Manager → NVIDIA Configuration for any power-related settings
No custom carrier board — this is the stock developer kit carrier board

Is there a specific firmware version required for this default auto power-on behavior, or a setting I might be missing? Any guidance on further diagnosing why the board requires a manual power-button press would be appreciated.
The Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit is documented to power on automatically when the included DC supply is connected. The documented control for changing this behavior is the J14 Button Header:
Connecting J14 pins 5 and 6 disables automatic power-on and requires a power-button press.
With automatic power-on disabled, a momentary connection between pins 11 and 12 initiates power-on.
Please try the following:
Disconnect the DC power supply from the developer kit.
Check J14 and make sure pins 5 and 6 are not connected by a jumper or external button harness. If an external power-button assembly is connected, temporarily disconnect it so that no jumper or harness remains on J14.
Reconnect the included DC supply and check whether the green LED lights and the board starts without pressing the power button.
Recommendation:
Please perform this J14-open test before changing the firmware or UEFI settings. If the board still does not start automatically, please provide a clear top-down photo of J14 and confirm whether the green LED lights immediately when DC power is connected.
I have the same problem with mine. I only used it a couple times and never could get it to flash/boot. I had another new unit so I just started using it. It had no problems. Verified with my other Jetson power supply from the functioning Jetson. I need a warranty replacement but that seems to be very difficult so far.
Your unit may be showing a different issue because you mentioned that it has never flashed or booted. To separate that from the J14 auto-power behavior discussed in this topic, please create a separate topic and include:
The exact Jetson model and JetPack/Jetson Linux version you attempted to install.
With the known-good power supply connected, what happens when you press the physical power button: does the green LED illuminate and the board boot, or does the unit remain unresponsive?
