I’d be happy to help you troubleshoot the issue with your Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit.

Firstly, congratulations on successfully installing JetPack 6.2.1 on your SSD 256GB using SDK Manager!

Regarding the issue of occasional freezing on the Ubuntu desktop, I’ve gathered some information from the context that might be relevant:

  1. Similar issues: There are a few threads in the context that mention boot issues or freezing problems with Jetson Orin Nano or other Jetson devices. For example, “Rin Nano 8GB Developer Kit - Realtek PHY MAC Address Change Causes Boot Issue” and “Flashing JetPack 6.0 to custom Jetson Orin Nano 4GB board fails after initial boot”.
  2. Power consumption: One thread mentions power consumption issues with the Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit 8GB, which might be related to the freezing problem.
  3. Kernel and driver issues: There are several threads discussing kernel and driver-related issues, such as “Nvidia jetpack5.1.2 linux 5.10.120 build will fail if CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF=y” and “Erreur nvlddmkm 153 crash”. Although these issues might not be directly related to your problem, they suggest that kernel and driver issues can cause system instability.

To troubleshoot the issue, I recommend the following steps:

  1. Check system logs: Inspect the system logs (e.g., /var/log/syslog) to see if there are any error messages or warnings that might indicate the cause of the freezing issue.
  2. Monitor system resources: Use tools like top, htop, or sysdig to monitor system resources (CPU, memory, disk usage) to see if there are any unusual patterns or spikes that might be causing the freezing issue.
  3. Verify power settings: Ensure that the power settings are configured correctly. You can check the power settings using tools like nvpmodel or nvfancontrol.
  4. Update kernel and drivers: Make sure that the kernel and drivers are up-to-date. You can check for updates using apt-get update and apt-get upgrade.
  5. Try a different SSD: If possible, try using a different SSD to rule out any issues with the current SSD.
  6. Reinstall JetPack: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can try reinstalling JetPack 6.2.1 using SDK Manager.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please provide more details about the freezing issue, such as:

  • How often does the freezing occur?
  • Are there any specific applications or tasks that trigger the freezing?
  • Are there any error messages or warnings displayed on the screen when the system freezes?

This information will help me better understand the issue and provide more targeted assistance.

Hi,

Please record the serial console log for us to review.

Thanks

Hi,
yesterday evening I’ve disconnected the ssd and restarted installation process from sd card. I’ve all (jetpack 6.2.1) completed, chromium installation (not working) and all the updates proposed and switched to MAXN SUPER mode.
For chromium I’ve fixed from shell:
snap download snapd --revision=24724
sudo snap ack snapd_24724.assert
sudo snap install snapd_24724.snap
sudo snap refresh --hold snapd
For nvcc command not found I’ve also add to .bashrc:
export PATH=/usr/local/cuda-12.6/bin:$PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/cuda-12.6/lib64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
Now I’m testing the board and I will let youi know if it still freeze.
Actually I don’t have a cable for serial connection, but I will buy soon.
Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for you update.
Wait for you to upload the log.

Thanks

Hi,
installation from sdcard seems to be stable, so I’ve retried to install from sdkmanager on ssd and the devices restart to freeze and reboot randomly. I attach serial debug console of boot and now I’m waiting logged in with serial cable connected, but I don’t know if it will record something in terminal app when the device will freeze.

Try turning off the Wi-Fi, if the issue no longer occurs, take a look here:

The cause might be something else, but you could save yourself a major headache with this simple test.

I’ve a new log after a reboot appened on startup, I can see just before reboot:

Thanks a lot, the wifi seems to be the cause, once disabled, the jetson was stable
