Jetson Orin NX 16gb L4T 35.2.1 Compatibility with NVMe SSDs

Good morning!

We are currently using L4T 35.2.1 on Orin NX 16gb in our product. During our bring-up stage in production we do the following:

  1. Use initrd to massflash Orin NX modules (2 at a time)
  2. Use NVMe SSD cloning to copy a master SSD image to a new NVMe SSD to be used as rootfs of Orin NX

We have noticed that with Samsung 970 evo and Micron 2450 series SSDs, this process completes and our SSDs perform as expected in the system. However, we have been trying a new model of Transcend SSD and have noted that in some cases we see poor sustained read/write speeds (as low as 80MB/s).

Are there any known compatibility issues with particular SSDs or firmwares with Jetpack and the Jetson Orin platform?

We only tested those components we listed at Jetson Orin NX Series and Jetson Orin Nano Series Supported Component List, you may do the search in forum to know what other developers use as your reference.

Please check if your issue is still there on NV devkit for later Jetpack release.

We’ve seen some issue with Transcend SSD on Orin AGX but never saw it on Orin NX.

Thanks for the reply @WayneWWW,

We can replicate the same issue on a devkit (slow sustained read/write speeds). What issues were you seeing with Transcend SSDs?

Could you try on newer JetPack 6.x? Thanks
