Jetson Orin NX not mounting issue while boot

HI,
I am reopening a topic from Jul, 17

I am facing the same issue, and did the workaround you suggested (restore bootable state to partition)
Now I am faciong exactly with the
[ 12.941945] ERROR: mounting PARTUUID=xxx-xxx-xxxx-xxx as /mnt fail…
[ 12.944026] ERROR: PARTUUID=xxx-xxx-xxxx-xxx mount fail…
And i reach the bash # prompt.
What can I do? This disk works seamlessly with our Yocto build
Thanks

Better dumping out the full log but not just give me these 2 lines of error.

Hi @WayneWWW ,
yhou can find the relevant log in the old ticket I attached to the question. It’s exactly the same issue
Thanks

So are you OswaldUK? If you are not, you better dumping your own full log.

The log snippeet shared in that post could happen with lots of reason. Please don’t assume you are with same issue. That totally does not help.

That post does not provide full log either. That was why that post didn’t get resolved. No useful information ever provided.

Here you go:

Hi,

I notice one obvious error here that your pcie driver is not shown in the log. If you are trying to boot from nvme, then lacking pcie driver would definitely lead to this.

How did you set up this board before? I mean is this issue there in the beginning after you flash the board?

HI,
I am moving to 36.4, and those are the results. I was able to boot it using a 35.1 Linux release.
How can I restore this pcie driver??
Thanks!!

Maybe you should try to elaborate what does that mean “moving to 36.4”. What is your method to “moving to rel-36.4”?

I am moving from lots of release everyday but I didn’t hit any of this problem.

As I already mentioned in the beginnin, please don’t assume your issue is same as others and only give little information. Try to give out the all details.

Is this on a NV devkit or a custom board? or you don’t know what my question mean here?

Hi,
It’s a custom board, that replicated the Orin devkit. We succeeded to boot it using a L4T 35.1 kernel, but now I am trying to use 36.4 and it’s not working. We have another firmware, using the yocto meta-tegra, that works pretty well.
The log I sent you is at its very first boot after FW burning.
If you need any further information, pls just ask. Thanks

Hi,

There are some questions that need to be clarified first.

If this is a custom board, then are you the board vendor who designed this board? Or it is from others?

Actually, you still don’t elaborate anything here.

I don’t know what is your point to mention 35.1. That thing is too old. The kernel version and lots of software are different from 36.4.
Also, L4T 35.1 does not support Orin NX at all. Orin NX got truly supported since rel-35.2.1.

And if this is a custom board, then software adaptation is needed. For example, device tree change. You still don’t answer whether you are doing the adaptation here or you are just using sdkmanager to flash.
Sdkmanager does not truly support any kind of custom carrier board. We only guarantee it supports the NV devkit.

HI,
yes we are the developers of the board.
As I said, we have a yocto-based build, using kernel 6.6 and oot drivers from 36.4
I am trying to integrate a Stereolabs camera, but so far unsuccessfully.
So, I wanted to try to use a “basic” installation and try the integration there.

So your issue here, did you ever changed the kernel image? or did you ever change the initrd?

No. I took the image as is from NVidia site. The NVME
connection is the same as the Jeston Orin SDK. I’ll give another go tomorrow. Which conf file you suggest to use? Thanks.

Please try to describe the detail about how did you flash your board.

Your post took lots of forth and back here because you just keep simplifying lots of things.

For example, what does that mean " I took the image as is from NVidia site"? We don’t provide any “image” for a Orin NX. We provided the BSP only. And how you flashed the board will decide the behavior of the BSP. How you prepared the BSP will also affect.

Please stop simplifying such thing here. .

Also, if you don’t know how to flash a board, please refer to the document.

Hi,
after several failures, I tried

sudo BOARDID=3767 BOARDSKU=0005 ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --external-device nvme0n1p1 -c tools/kernel_flash/flash_l4t_t234_nvme.xml -p "-c bootloader/generic/cfg/flash_t234_qspi.xml" --showlogs --network usb0 jetson-orin-nano-devkit internal

Is it normal to specify the BOARDID and BOARDSKU in this way?
But now there is another strange issue:
At boot

It strange twice: at first it reads the extlinux.conf, but then it refuses to boot using it…
I modified the extlinux.conf using the jetson-io utility installed

P.S. Now I cannot flash the board even in that way. I’m always getting a

You don’t need to specify BOARDID and BOARDSKU. If your board is in recovery mode then the flash process will read it from the board directly.

P.S. Now I cannot flash the board even in that way. I’m always getting a

Is this test on a NV devkit or your custom board? I don’t want to repeat this again. Do not simplify anything here. Attach the full log but not post something which you think might be the error. Share how does your setup and steps look like to make this error happened.
