Jetson ORIN Power Requirements

Continuing the discussion from Jetson ORIN power consumption:

If the module is limited to 40 or 60W, why is the current requirement from the +12V rail at 9A (IDDMAX from SYS_VIN_HV)?

With 9A, the total power is 108W, so why does the carrier board needs to support 108W instead of 40 or 60W?

Best regards.

The IDDMAX is the limit for safety which is for all power mode. If power mode is limited to 60W, the current will be up to 5A @ 12V.

Ok, thanks for the reply.

Do you know if the safety limit of 9A accounts for inrush currents during the module turn on?

Best regards.

Yes, in fact it is about 20A for the internal board inrush current test as you can see in the carrier board schematic.

Could you help me to find this information you mentioned about the 20A internal board inrush current in the carrier board schematic?

I’m looking at the file “P3737_A04_OrCAD_schematics.pdf” but I can’t find it anywhere.

Best regards.
