Jetson TK1 As Distributed Computing Client

The BOINC Project – massively distributed computing or “grid computing” http://boinc.berkeley.edu – is now available for the armhf platform, but the packaged version tends to cause system lockup for no known reason. I am now building it with apt-get -y build-dep boinc ; apt-get -b install boinc. Additionally I installed the “gfortran” and many related packages.

Here’s a short but brief discussion from the GPUGrid forum, where GPUGrid is a project to assist BOINC by developing means to harness GPU for faster computation.

Jetson TK1 would probably be a valuable contributor to the world of idle-time distributed processing, if someone can figure out how to open the CUDA functionality of this particular platform to interact with various projects in the same way standard platforms can interact with those projects.
