MediaTomb provides easy setup of your media via a web page.
install:
sudo apt-get install mediatomb
configuration:
sudo gedit /etc/mediatomb/config.xml
If you want to stream mp4 movies add this mapping:
start from Gnome2 Desktop:
Applications->Sound & Video->MediaTomb
