Jetson TX2 NX Ethernet ESD

I’m designing a new board and moving from TX2 to TX2-NX. In the product design guide GBE section Jetson is connected directly to the PHY without ESD protection, on the TX2 product design guide there was ESD protection. I also saw that on the Orin NX boards there are no ESD protections.
Is the ESD protection not needed for TX2-NX? Is there ESD protection the Jetson?

Hi, the ESD diodes were removed from cvb as a cost reduction effort. We conducted EMI zap tests and concluded the system could survive (reboot only). The shielding on the RJ45 and the internal magnetics were sufficient for suppressing.

It is recommended for customers though if they can’t do EMI tests to confirm their design.
