Jetson TX2-NX is unable to Display 4K video

I have plugged in TX2-NX SoM into Jetson Nano Carrier Board. When I try to run gstreamer pipeline and gstreamer based applications to play 4k content it is unable to display anything, although it seems to be decoding it.
I tried nvgstplayer, gst-play-1.0 and gst-launch commands, none of them work.
It is running the latest Jetpack 4.6.3/ L4T 32.7.3 release.

Using xrandr, I verified that my display can support both 3840x2160-30fps and 3840x2160-60fps resolutions, and i tried both of them.

I am seeing the exact same issue with Xavier-NX based system when it is running Jetpack 4.6.3 / L4T 32.7.3 , but everything is fine when Xavier NX is running on latest Jetpack 5.1.1 / L4T 35.3.1. I can play more than 4 4k videos without any issues.

Is it possible to have a fix backported to Jetpack 4.6.3 for my TX2-NX or alternatively upgrade TX2-NX to latest Jetpack 5.1.1?

Thanks.

Hi,

Would like to confirm if this is a typo. The working setup should be TX2-NX SoM into Xavier NX Carrier Board.

If you use the setup and still observe the issue, please share the gstreamer commands so that we can try to replicate the issue.

Thanks DaneLL for the response. No, that is not a typo but the actual set up I am using. I will change the setup to the one you have recommended and let you know how it goes. By the way, can we plug in a Jetson Nano SoM into Xavier-NX Carrier Board? We would ideally want to keep the same carrier board across Jetson-Nano TX2-NX and Xavier-NX SoMs.

Hi,
We would suggest use Jetson Nano module with its own carrier board.
TX2 NX and Xavier NX modules can work with Xavier NX carrier board.
