[JP5.1.2] L4T_backup_restore bootorder change question

Hi

Our platform encountered the same problem as the one described at the following URL during backup and restore.

Besides modifying the bootorder using efibootmgr, is there any way to avoid this problem?

Is there any method other than directly modifying the UEFI to disable PXE?

Thanks

l4t_clear_uefi_vars.txt (10.9 KB)

sudo python3 clear_uefi_vars.py --in-place ./tools/backup_restore/QSPI0.img

We can test erasing the uefi variable in the qspi images.

Please use the content the above text file as a python script

Hi Ihoang,

Our end customer is experiencing the same issue during production when using the NVIDIA Backup & Restore tool.

Following the recent discussion, I attempted to use the Python script you shared for the topic owner. However, after applying this script and restoring our client’s image, all the files previously stored in the folder were wiped.

Furthermore, the script failed to address the original issue regarding the bootloader change. More importantly, since this script caused the deletion of all files in the directory, we are now unable to verify whether it is a viable solution for the bootloader issue. Could you please review this or provide further guidance on how to proceed?

Hi

Can I see your log of running the script? I dont think there is any code that remove files in the script because it is only designed to modify one file.

Hi Ihoang,

Thanks for the update.

May I know which part of the log you need? The dmesg after applying the Python script? Or the script running in the terminal?

  1. This is the screenshot before I applied the Python script to restore the system, where I will be able to see the customer file from their image.

  2. Below is the output log from my host after applying the script.

  3. Then, after running the script, I tried to restore the image, but the result is that I cannot see those files from the image again.

  4. This is the script you shared, we’ve only modified the file name and format.
    clear_uefi_vars.py

If you need something else, please let me know. Tks.

Hi I am wondering how many storages are on the Jetson Orin NX? The device might have booted into another storage from the originally intended backup storage. Also i am wondering what command do you use to backup?

Hi Ihoang

  1. Only 1 NVMe storage there. And the partition is the same as the default Jetpack.
  2. The Backup command the same as your README “sudo ./tools/backup_restore/l4t_backup_restore.sh -e nvme0n1 -b jetson-orin-nano-devkit”
  3. Restore command as well. “sudo ./tools/backup_restore/l4t_backup_restore.sh -e nvme0n1 -r jetson-orin-nano-devkit”

Hi,

Is there any update on my case?

Can you check tools/backup_restore/images/ for the tar.zst file that is your filesystem to see if it contains what you have modified?
