Keras very slow on Xavier's GPU

Hello All,

I want to run Keras on Xavier directly(without TensorRT).

I installed tensorflow-gpu as described here: [url]https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1042125/jetson-agx-xavier/official-tensorflow-for-jetson-agx-xavier/[/url].

I also installed Keras using “pip install keras”.

I am testing the same codes/model on my Desktop PC and Xavier. The timing results are as follows:

Desktop:
real 0m2.958s
user 0m3.649s
sys 0m0.998s

Xavier:
real 0m32.688s
user 0m26.260s
sys 0m6.264s

My desktop is using Intel(R) Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz with a 2.5" SSD. Xavier is on mode 0.

Any ideas on the unaccepted execution time of Xavier here?

Have you maximized the Jetson performance?

By the way, could you also monitor the GPU utilization and share it with us?

However, it seems that my application is using CPU most of the time and gpu only at some point in time which is near the end of the execution. The code on my system without a gpu runs much faster as I describe in 1st post.

Is Keras essential for you.

It’s recommended to use our inference example which has accelerated with TensorRT.
It can reach around 2000 image/sec with GoogleNet on Xavier:
