Linux mint KDE 18.3 GTX 1060 locking up laptop compleatly

ok so ive been runing linux mint KDE 18.3 for some time now i have a lenovo legion y 720 laptop the graphics driver im currently useing is nvidia-384.130-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 with an 7th gen 7700 hq core i7 processor and an nvidia geforce gtx 1060 and so ever since ive installed linux onto my laptop even when i was useing 18.2 i have been cursed with a problem that makes my entire laptop lock up and freeze it seems to happen whenever i play a video game of any kind even steam games and also it hapens a lot when im watching videos in any kind of video player my laptop jsut locks up and ide like to try and find out why well i recently had an unrelated problem with RPCS3 the play station 3 emulator where the audio in the game would degrate to garbage over time BUT i was recording my screen when my laptop locked up u can see right at the end of the video that when i closed out of rpcs3 the video ends thats because the entire thing locked up as u can tell becuase i dident save or pause the recording with simple screen recorder and this happens to me a lot and i think its something that really needs fixed any help on figuring out why this hapes to me and plagues my sytem thanks if u need anything else from me just ask thanks ^_^ also here is a link to the video i uploaded to youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2feVpBl3MlI and ive tryed to check logs but i cant seem to find anything considering my entire system locks up.i will try to make it lock up again and then try to make another log we shale see if its possible.

why can no body help me with this how come no body is helping me and what can i do to get some help i even have this posted on linux mint forums and yet not a single responce

Please attach the bug report as file. Hovering the mouse over an existing post will reveal a paperclip icon. Then, you should create it while the issue is happening, i.e. use ssh to connect from another system/smartphone while the laptop is frozen. Only then the error which leads to freezing will be caught in the log.

Can you install and start openssh (on your laptop) then try logging into your laptop from another machine after it locks up?
If you can, run nvidia-bug-report script after the hang.
The output of dmesg will help too.

i tried to get ssh up and running and it says refused to connect to port 22 then when i manually run the ssh service it exits with an error code . then when i try to reinstall it it complains about missing dependencys no matter what update server i connect to what now…

is there any other way i can get this log file since i cant seem to get ssh to work no matter what i do (NOTE: i feel it should be really simple i know im not stupid and i know i dident mess up the instructions) thanks

it needs to be configured to allow access to a certain ip address.
For example, in /etc/ssh/sshd_config
ListenAddress 10.42.0.1
where 10.42.0.1 is the ip you have on the network.
then restart sshd.
Then on the other machine, type ssh anubis2497@10.42.0.1

i did what u said on the other machin and i even weighted 10 minutes and it literally dose nothing the terminal stays blank?

is sshd running on the first machine (the one with the GTX 1060 card)?

The default config should allow user access on any interface, so modifying /etc/ssh/sshd_config shouldn’t be necessary. To get a ssh server running, it’s sufficient to run (on the Lenovo)
sudo apt install openssh-server
sudo systemctl start ssh

To get the status of sshd:
sudo systemctl status ssh

To get the current ip addresses:
sudo ifconfig

To revert the sshd server to default config, create an empty config
sudo mv /etc/ssh/sshd_config /etc/ssh/sshd_config.old
sudo touch /etc/ssh/sshd_config
sudo chmod 600 /etc/ssh/sshd_config
sudo systemctl restart ssh

i updaed my bios ill see if that fixes it an udate for my bios fixes some kind of system lag and freezeing but weather or not it pertains to linux or the system is yet beyond me i shale do some further testing and let uu know what my results r in a few days thanks to everyone for there help i appricate it a lot1

ok yea its still freezing like hard freezing ii cant get ssh to work at all while its frozen but when its not frozen and the problem isent going on it works fine on the other machin also i just had to open ports on the other machine thats all it was so now what.

A complete system lockup doesn’t sound good and is hard to debug. The last resort to catch an error message would be to turn on log persistence:
edit /etc/systemd/journald.conf and set
Storage=“persistent”
reboot and when a system lockup occurs again, try a magic sysrq first.
Hold down alt+sysrq (Printscreen key) then slowly type: r e i s u b
If it doesn’t reboot then, shutdown using power button.
Immediately after reboot, run
sudo journalctl -b -1 --no-pager |tail -n 50
and post the output.
Edit: depending on your keyboard, you might have to hold alt+fn+sysrq
