Linux on Lenovo W540 working with nouveau, want to use nvidia

I have a Lenovo W540 laptop with the K1100M running 64bit opensuse 13.1.

Suse installed the nouveau and intel drivers and worked right off. It drives two external monitors and in the internal display at once with no issues.

However, it is using the opensource driver that is slower and doesn’t support power management. I have tried to follow the directions here: http://smithfarm-thebrain.blogspot.cz/2013/10/opensuse-131-nvidia-optimus-bumblebee.html to get the nvidia driver working in its place, but so far I cannot.

The internal display works, but the nvidia driver doesn’t play nice. I would also be fine for now just using the discrete nvidia driver, but after the install, none of the monitors work with X. There is no setting in the bios to use only the discrete adapter.

Anyone else have one of these working?
