When running an application based on kit 106.0.2 and trying to start a live session I get the error “Live Session functionality not supported” as shown in the screenshot.
I am running the Base Editor with the omni.kit.widget.live extension and its dependencies enabled (no other changes). I opened a simple scene on Nucleus.
Is this supposed to work? I am asking because this extension is only a “sample” application. If not, what would be the recommended approach?
More background: I am trying to work with the connect SDK and I get a live session to work with the latest USD Composer 2023.2.5 (which I understand will be discontinued soon) and one of the connect SDK samples. However, it is not working with the newest kit version for me. Also not when using the kit-app-template.
Well the first thing I would say is you need to create a real named session. “Richard’s Session” or something. “Default” is default and not allowed. Make a new fresh session with a real name.
Secondly, I would have to test in 106. It is still new and it could be that the LIVE workflow is not working or disabled. I would stick with what works for now, so that would be 105.2 and Composer 2023.2.5
I did try with a proper session (see screenshot) and also tried to join a a session started from somewhere else. Both did not work for 106.0.2 (base editor template built using the kit-app-template). I get the same “Live Session functionality is not supported” error.
Edit: Using the USD Composer Template the Live Session works. Apparently there is an issue with how I added the extensions starting from the Base Editor.
Having done some research on this, you are correct. The LIVE workflow is only available currently in the USD Composer and Explorer templates. Not the Base Editor. Did you actually get the LIVE session to work from one place to another ?
Yes, after working with the composer template I gave the base editor template another shot. It turns out that I was missing one of the collaboration extensions…
I added these extensions to get the LIVE workflow to work:
