Login Loop after installing 390.25 on ubuntu 1070Ti

So basically after I install nvidia 390 open source drivers on Ubuntu I get into a never ending login loop. Have searched for an answer for about a week, and I’m literally out of options.

Motherboard = Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
CPU = AMD FX8320
GPU = 2x MSI GeForce GTX 1070Ti Gaming 8G

Thank you for any help, because I’m absolutely clueless.

Use the ubuntu packages from graphics ppa only.
Please run nvidia-bug-report.sh as root and attach the resulting tar.gz file to your post. Hovering the mouse over an existing post will reveal a paperclip icon.

Sorry for this late response, it has been a hell of a week.
So I ran nvidia-bug-report.sh as a root but I don’t know how to get the tar.gz file to my main computer. Sorry I’m a newcomer to ubuntu and linux. I’ll try to provide you with the tar.gz file as soon as I can.

If you have internet connection, you can use pastebinit to upload it from console.

  • install pastebinit (apt install pastebinit)
  • unzip logfile (gunzip nvidia-bug-report.log.gz)
  • upload logfile (pastebinit nvidia-bug-report.log)
  • note down and post the url you’re given

Thank you for the instructions. Here is the url:

Hope that helps and thank you again.

You have secure boot enabled so the nvidia driver doesn’t load since it isn’t signed. Easiest way is to disable it in bios and reinstall.

Ohh I’m so stupid, I thought I disabled it, well now i know. Thank you for the help.
