I am running an RTX 4070 super with a Ryzen 9 7900x with ubuntu 24.04. Under load the max gpu usage for any graphical app is 50%, with power draw in the range of 10-20 watts. I have updated to the latest nvidia drivers provided by apt (560.28.03) I am also using wayland as the display compositor. I know it isn’t a hardware issue since when running a crypto miner, the gpu pulls over 100 watts and usage reaches 100%, but even tools like furmark only see 10-20 fps and 20 watts of power draw. I have ordered a new ssd and will install windows onto it o see if it is a hardware issue. Any help with this would be much appreciated.
Switching to xorg seems to have resolved this issue, I wonder why it doesn’t run smoothly on wayland
